Stupid NYU hippies. There sure is. Actually several. And I even spent 16 years experiencing one.

We get lots of World Socialism and How You Can Stop The Iraq War flyers in Rochester. Apparently the two are directly related.

(I should clarify — it’s one flyer with both things printed on it)

I hate it how these guys have a solution for all the ills of the world.

This morning I remembered them when I heard our office manager complain about the stopped up toilet in the bathroom. “These geniuses.” - he kept saying looking at a toilet bowl overflowing with toilet paper and water slush - “They are so smart. Common sense they don’t got, but they are so smart.”

Thank you, than you. You are too kind. I’ll be here all month.

I love ex-Soviets. Karol too. You can skip right past the “well what do *you* know about socialism?” ad-hominem that I can’t (my family got out of Lithuania and Belarus in the 20’s/30’s).

The link doesn’t seem to work.

That was pretty lucky of your grandparents to get out when they did.

Her site’s down, I guess. It’s very GOP-ish, but I’ve met her in real life and she’s not just a political hack.

Actually, on second thought … my father’s side got out a bit earlier than that. Because his mom was born in 1911 in NY.

My maternal grandfather had Poland/Russia on his Ellis Island documentation; I guess this was in the days before GPS, and they took turns with the pogroms.

If I remember correctly, Poland was a part of Russia back then. Tsar Nicholas II was Emperor of Russia, something-something-something, Poland, something-something-something, etc.

I think the question ought to be “Is there an alternative to unbridled, destructive, exploitative capitalism?”

Tue, 06/21/2005 - 18:24 — deadprogrammer

Well, the answer would be the same - yes there is, and I had the chance to experience it. It sucked.

First time you answered that was cute, second time you answered Dan, youre an idiot who sees only extremes of black and white.
As a south american, there are plenty of examples how unbridled, destructive, exploitative capitalism has fucked our continent.
Well, that an american interference, meddling and arming death squads.

Dont give me your life story and I wont give you mine but lets not stoop to whose dick is bigger mentality. I dont care if your mother was sodomized monthly 16 years ago.

Its not black or white, ….bitch.

What's All this Then?

My name is Michael Krakovskiy, and this is my blog.

Here’s what you might find interesting:
100 Views of the Empire State Building project: I try to take 100 interesting photos of Manhattan’s (sadly) tallest building.

My Gastronomic Adventures: I eat weird food - from 13 year old New Coke to Durian and parasitic fungi.

My attempts to grow exotic plants: pineapples, coconuts, etc.

My photos, mostly of New York City.

My musings about architecture mostly illustrated with my own photos. Would you like to learn about a mental patient who died at 103 who served as a model for some very famous sculptures? How about Brooklyn’s ugliest building? How about a wooden skyscraper?

I find myself frequently writing about logos. The most popular article I ever wrote is about the redesigns of the Starbucks logo.

I wrote a series of “Best Sci-Fi You Haven’t Read” posts:

Psywarrior
Yes, Virginia There Is Synergy
Call Time Police - We’ve Got a Time Traveler

Other topics that interest me include NYPD, New York City subway system, Japan, and things made out of titanium. On top of all of that, I seem to be interested in pigeions and Rupert Murdoch.

Dear reader, please browse around. You are sure to find something interesting. I could really use some help in bringing in readership: subscribe to the rss feed, digg the stories (there’s a convenient button at the bottom of every article), link to my blog from yours, write some comments. I put in a lot of effort into writing, and I really appreciate your attention.

If you don’t want all this pseudo-intellectual and want some lolcats? Please don’t go away. Here, I have that stuff too. Here, here’s another. And another. And another. I lied about not posting cat pictures.
